There are several astronauts shown in the title sequence (one version at link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8OpsPok6iQ): a pair in space suits walking down a corridor, one man (at 2:02 of that version) wearing the black and white head liner for a space helmet (Apollo era), three apparently in a capsule wearing helmets, and others doing space walks. The only one I felt might be recogisable is the man at 2:02, who I believe to be Neil Armstrong- see photo at bottom of link http://history.nasa.gov/SP-350/ch-11-1.html for him in a similar pose and garb. I admit that the title image is indistinct enough that it could be another Apollo astronaut.

My research indicates that the black and white head liner was called a "Snoopy cap," presumably because it was white on top with long black ears, much like Charlie Brown's Snoopy. Another image of Armstong in one shows that Snoopy resemblance: link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Armstrong-Spencom01.jpg

My first thought on watching the YouTube clip was that the astronaut in close up was Alan Shepard, which is confirmed by this trivia snippet:
The American astronaut shown in the opening credits is Alan Shepard, the first American astronaut in space, and later commander of Apollo 14. There is also archive footage of: Charles A. Lindbergh next to his plane Spirit of St. Louis, Robert H. Goddard the father of modern rocketry writing his theories on a blackboard, Chuck Yeager and the Bell X-1 with which he broke the sound barrier and astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins as they board Apollo 11 to become the first men on the moon.
