The eyeball is filled with a gel called aqueous humour. This fills the eye behind the cornea and is being constantly replenished. It is a liquid made up of 99.9% water. link https://www.specsavers.co.uk/eye-health/glaucoma/what-is-aqueous-humour

Tears also contain oil and mucus, plus electrolytes and other chemicals to protect and clean the cornea. They are also generated on a constant basis but designed to protect the outer side of the cornea which is exposed to the elements. They also vary depending on if they are generated additionally through irritation or emotions. link https://sciencenotes.org/chemical-composition-teardrop
