Pastafarianism (a.k.a. Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster). The term was first used in 2005 in a satirical open letter by Bobby Henderson (b. 1980), an American physics graduate at Oregon State University. Henderson protested the Kansas State Board of Education decision which permitted teaching intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in public school science classes.
