Who was the first to determine yellow fever was transmitted by mosquitos?

Cuban physician Carlos Finlay first identified the mosquito as a disease carrier in 1886. However, his ideas were ridiculed at the time. It took some 20 years before U.S. scientists confirmed Dr. Finlay's work.
