Randy Gardner (born c. 1946) is an American man from San Diego, California, who currently holds the record for the longest amount of time a human has gone without sleep. In December 1963/January 1964, 17-year-old Gardner stayed awake for 11 days and 24 minutes (264.4 hours), breaking the previous record of 260 hours held by Tom Rounds.https://wiki2.org/en/Randy_Gardner_sleep_deprivation_experiment+Newton
The longest recorded period for which a person has voluntarily gone without sleep is 449 hr (18 days 17 hours) by Mrs. Maureen Weston of Peterborough, England in a rocking chair marathon from April 14 to May 2, 1977. Though she tended to hallucinate toward the end of this surely ill-advised test, surprisingly, she suffered no lasting aftereffects."
