J. Fred Muggs was the first animal to star on TV! He is a chimpanzee born on 14 March 1942 and less than a year later he appeared on 3 February 1943 dressed in a diaper! His career lasted until 1957 when he was replaced by another chimpanzee. Remarkably as of 2023 Muggs is still alive at the age of 81 years old!
