Would you believe, 35K?
Anteaters are edentate animals—they have no teeth. But their long tongues are more than sufficient to lap up the 35,000 ants and termites they swallow whole each day.

The figure quoted by the San Diego Zoo is in the same ballpark. It would not be much fun as a researcher, counting an anteater's diet!
Giant anteaters have no teeth, but a specialized tongue allows them to eat up to 30,000 ants and termites each day.
