Woodrow Wilson appeared on the $100,000 bill in 1934 and 1935. There were 42,000 of these bills created and only for Federal Reserve use. Owning these bills is illegal and NOT legal tender for day-to-day transactions. FDR requested the bills be authorized by Congress to help balance out the hoarding of gold certificates during the Depression. The year after they were made almost all of the bills were destroyed except for a few that are now on display in museums.
