In Hinduism, Garuda is represented as the mount (vahana) of the god Vishnu and is often depicted as a humanoid bird with the wings, beak and talons of an eagle or falcon. Garuda is revered for his strength, speed and noble character. In Buddhist mythology, Garuda is also present, often depicted as a symbol of wisdom and enlightenment. In Indonesia, Garuda it is the national emblem and symbolises the spirit of freedom and independence.
