Mount Etna on Sicily is the highest mountain on an island in the Mediterranean at 3,357 meters. Etna is Greek for "I burn" which is well named as it is a volcano. Supposedly, Etna is where the god Vulcan had his forge though the exact location has never been found for some reason.
