The Pritzker Prize is the top award for a living architect and is considered by some to be the "Nobel Prize" for architects. Jay and Cindy Pritzker founded the prize to help draw public attention to the lifetime achievements of architects. A committee of 8 people across the field of architecture and art come together to select the winner each year. The first winner was selected in 1979 and winners have been selected from around the world.
