In 1908 Camille Saint-Saens wrote the first film score. The film was the French film "Asassination of Duc de Guise" which was also ahead of its time by having a plot based on history rather than a pastoral scene or other simple novelties. The film was also 15 minutes long making it one of the longest films to that point as well.
