The hummelchen is a small German bagpipe. The term dudelsack is derived from the words dudeln meaning a monotone sound and sack referring to the air bag used to play the instrument. The hummelchen definition comes from the unfortunate sheep who had to listen to the shepherds play music to them. The dudelsack is a fantastic set of pipes for a beginner to use as they require less air to play. The instrument also has a quieter mellower sound making it more tolerable to listen to indoors. Win-win!
