Bir Tawil is an unclaimed territory between Egypt and Sudan. It is notable for being one of the few areas of land in the world that is not claimed by any recognised sovereign state. This situation arose due to border disputes between Egypt and Sudan, which resulted in both countries claiming the adjacent Hala'ib Triangle, leaving Bir Tawil unclaimed.
