In 2010, Ford and Tesla signed a deal restricting Tesla from using the name 'Model E,' reserving it for Ford electric vehicles. However, in Musk's vision of owning the 'SEXY' car company, he still went on and registered the Model E in 2014. This sparked legal intervention from Ford's side since the name 'Model E' was Ford's to own from the beginning, and hence, Tesla had to rename the Model E. However, this didn't change much since Musk merely mirrored the 'E' in the name and renamed it Model 3?, reinforcing his dream of owning the S3XY car company.
