The difference between Annihilationism and Universalism is that while sinners in Annihilationism suffer in death and are eventually destroyed because in Gods love he would not commit anyone to eternal damnation and suffering, while in Universalism there is no suffering in death, all will be saved a reconciled with God.
Annihilationism states that the wicked are destroyed eventually rather than suffering in hell forever. Those who teach annihilationism do not believe that God would cause the wicked to suffer in hell forever. To them, God would be immoral if He causes the wicked who have rejected Jesus Christ to suffer for eternity in hell.
