Does Lieutenant Columbo have any children?

It is not known with any certainty if Lt. Columbo and his wife have children. In one episode he says that they do not have any children, but it is thought that he was lying as he was talking to a killer who had targeted Mrs. Columbo, and he was trying to protect his family. In another episode he does refer to "the child" , and then in 3 additional episodes he refers to "the wife and kids" and "kids running around". It is believed that he indeed did have children, with the number growing during the long run of the tv series.
