How did the popular cartoon spoof "South Park" get its name?

Basically it's a real place, and based on real characters. Park refers to Park county in Colorado (capital Fairplay) and it's where the writer is from (well, one at least!).

Although at this time I can't get citiation to work, Satguru is correct it is a real place.

There is actually a town in Colorado called South Park.
