A shirt usually has a front (occasionally back with some dress shirts) that opens, while a top doesn't. Also, shirts tend to be worn by males, tops by females. Exception: T shirt which is really a vest (UK) or undershirt (USA) worn by itself. A cell is a unit that can produce electricity by chemical means, either reversible (rechargeable) or non-reversible (alkaline, zinc carbon). A battery is a stack of cells. One alkaline cell gives 1.5V, so a 1.5V 'battery' for your Walkman is actually a cell. A 9V battery is a stack of six 1.5V cells. In your car, the 12V battery is six 2V lead-acid cells.
