Here's McGruff's FAVORITE TWO WORDS: IT DEPENDS!!!

General concensus is that a watermelon is approx. 90% water...so...DEPENDING on the size of the melon, 9/10 of that is water.

Several sites note that the percentage is higher, around 92%, and that size isn't a real factor. A ripe melon will bear out fairly consistently in this range, with the less moist areas in the rind, which is also edible if you like watermelon pickles as I do.

The watermelon should be heavy for its size. Watermelon is 92% water, most of the weight is water.

Watermelon is 92 percent water by weight, the highest percentage of any fruit.

Usually wiki does not lie. And it's 92% of the weight, not 92% of the fruit.

Want to know how many calories that other 8% has?

92 percent is the consensus.

"Each bite of watermelon contains about 92 percent water and 6 percent sugar."
