What is the difference between a "Hippie" and a "Yippie"?

Hippie refers to the counter-culture that began in the United States in the late 1960s. Yippie refers to the Youth International Party, established also in the late 1960s. Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman were two of the more famous Yippies.

When asked to define ‘yippie’ Jerry Rubin said that a yippie was a hippie who had been hit on the head by a policeman.
