Bledowska Desert was created as an accidental byproduct of urbanization in that area and is not a naturally formed desert, THUS, would probably not be considered a "real" desert. In the recent years the desert has started to shrink.

You can find at least one desert on every continent except Europe (and Antarctica).
You can find at least one desert on every continent except Europe. Each desert is different in some way, but they all have one thing in common. In order for an area of land to be considered a desert, it must receive less than 10 inches of water a year.

Antarctica IS a desert!

"At 14.425 million km², Antarctica is the third-smallest continent before Europe and Australia; 98% of it is covered in ice. Because there is little precipitation, except at the coasts, the interior of the continent is technically the largest desert in the world."

Hálendi in Icelandic means 'The Highlands'. It might be called a 'desert', but is really a mountain plain or plateau. If Hálendi is a desert, what about the Norwegian Hardangervidda which is the largest mountain plateau in Europe? It might be more precise to call Hálendi a 'broad mountain ridge' or a 'heath'. One might also ask what makes it different from the Scottish highlands.
