All I have to go on, are only a couple of "Purposely Limited Clues," that are intended to see if anyone can come up with a credible proofing of this particularly "Puzzling Trivia Quote". The "Original Author" of the quote was very famous and had written it more than 100 years ago. That would negate it "originally coming from a 1984 Movie."
I did some further checking around and found out that, in the wording of the quote, it is correctly quoted... Now, all the question needs, is another revision to it... So, it should NOW read:
What "famous person," was "originally quoted" as having said; "The ultimate secret of life is the sheer knowledge of death, for without it, man will not strive to leave his mark upon the earth." ...And when was it said?
I am finding the quote most often with the word "sure" in place of "sheer", and "would" in place of "will" -- but never attributed to anyone. If it is, it is with the same movie quote. Had to have come from somewhere else, I would think.
