Answer: The Jade Buddha

After the Jade Buddha is stolen from the village of Jackie Chan's character, Passepartout, he breaks into the Bank of England to steal it back. While running from the police he ends up at Phileas Fogg's laboratory. In order to avoid the police he poses as Fogg's new valet.

Answer: By whistling

Fogg takes Passepartout into his lab and whistles, turning the lights on. He says he has borrowed light bulbs from Thomas Edison. Passepartout whistles in admiration and the lights go off. Fogg says maybe his idea needs a bit more work.

Answer: He joins a circus.

Being an accomplished acrobat, Passepartout joins a circus as an acrobat. However, Fogg, quite cleverly deduces the whereabouts of Passepartout. The party is reunited and they head for their next destination.

Answer: Reform Club

Phileas Fogg is an upstanding, albeit, eccentric member of the Reform Club. The Reform Club is a "gentleman's club, with exclusive membership". While this film is a fictionalized account of the Reform Club, such a club, actually exists, which such honorable members, including Winston Churchill, H. G. Wells, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, et al.

The Black Scorpions are the Chinese gang that had entrusted the Jade Buddha to the Bank of England after stealing it from Passepartout's village. They want it back and pursue Passepartout through the streets of London and further once he begins his journey around the world with Fogg.

Answer: Frank Sinatra

In a surprising cameo appearance, Frank Sinatra appears in this film as the piano player, in San Francisco saloon. It's arguable as to whether Sinatra was more famous as an actor or singer. Nevertheless, his appearance in this film, helped make this film a classic.

Answer: Passepartout

Passepartout, claiming to be from an ancient family, successfully passes the interview. He has held a variety of jobs, including a professor of gymnastics, a trapeze artist, a fireman and a chimney sweep. Fogg, nevertheless, is impressed, and hires Passepartout to be his valet. Fogg says, "See that you behave yourself. Any tomfoolery, and out you go."

General Fang is the leader of the Black Scorpions. She goes to the Royal Academy of Sciences to demand the return of the Jade Buddha but Lord Kelvin tells her it is her problem. He then makes a joke about the fact that he won't take orders from a woman and the camera pans to a picture of Queen Victoria, whom he ironically works for. General Fang is a martial arts expert who is seeking to get arms from the British and is willing to do anything in this pursuit, including kill Fogg.

During a game of cards, the subject of an audacious bank robbery becomes the topic of discussion. Fogg seems to have an unusually accurate insight into the details of the robbery. This arouses some suspicion among the members of the club. Police Inspector Fix (Robert Morley) suggests that Fogg knows more than the police.

Fogg declares that he has 20,000 pounds in his bank. He wagers that he can complete a trip around the world in eighty days. Most of the members of the club are skeptical and eagerly wager against Fogg. Earlier on, it is suggested that the concept is merely a joke. Fogg replies, "An Englishman never jokes about a wager."

Answer: Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates plays Queen Victoria. She arrives at the Royal Academy of Sciences right when Lord Kelvin is saying nasty things about her. She has Lord Kelvin arrested and taken away. She says she bet 20 quid on Fogg to win the race. In a breach of etiquette Fogg hugs her because he is so happy but she does not seem to mind. Bates is better known for her dramatic roles, including her Oscar winning role in "Misery", but proved she can do well in comedy too.

The man from Scotland Yard, intimates that Fogg is bound for South America. Specifically, Caracas, Venezuela. The other members of the club are dismayed and reluctant to believe the accusations. Since, England has no extradition agreement with Venezuela, the officer declares that, "Mr. Fogg had bolted."

Answer: hot air balloon

A train is out of the question, as the route has been blocked by an unexpected avalanche. Fortunately, the travel agent happens to be a well renowned balloonist. He sells his balloon to Fogg, and they continue their journey.

Answer: Luke and Owen Wilson

Luke and Owen Wilson play the Wright Brothers. They rescue Passepartout, Fogg, and Monique from being stranded in the desert when their stage coach breaks down. The Wright Brothers give them a bicycle wheel to repair the damaged wheel on the stagecoach so they can continue on with their journey. Fogg uses their schematics to build his flying machine at the end of the movie. The Wilson Brothers both got their start in a movie co-written by Owen in 1994 called "Bottle Rocket". They have an older brother, Andrew, who is also an actor.

Mr. Fogg, purchases the Henrietta from the captain of the ship. They sacrifice all available burnable materials, in order to make their destination on time. Fogg's servant definitely has a weakness for the opposite sex. He dances with an entertainer on the dance floor. He employs a dancing technique with a red cape. The owner of the boat is duly impressed, and wishes to see Fogg's servant participate in a genuine bull fight, before he cedes his boat to Fogg.

Answer: Lau Xing

When Passepartout returns to his village Fogg learns who he really is and his real name, Lau Xing. Fogg is upset with Lau and Monique, who also knew Passepartout's real name, for lying to him and leaves them behind when he continues his journey. They find him in San Francisco where he has been robbed and help him get back into the race.

Answer: He is arrested by Mr. Fix.

A bulldog of persistence, Mr. Fix captures Fogg at the train station, and arrests him on the charge of purloining the sum of 55,000 pounds from the Bank of England. Fogg is placed in jail and the delay apparently has cost him the wager.

Fogg is mislead by the news reports of a direct train route to Allahabad. Unfortunately, the track has yet to be completed. Fogg makes the remainder of the journey on elephant.

Mr. Fix visits Fogg in jail. Mr. Fix apologizes profusely for his egregious error. He goes on to say that he has always considered Mr. Fogg to be a perfect gentleman. Mr. Fogg is not assuaged by the words of Mr. Fix. He is perturbed, but ever being the gentleman, Mr. Fogg chastises Mr. Fix, by saying that he has never enjoyed Mr. Fix's company and that Mr. Fix plays an abominable game of Whist.

The agent for Mr. Fix describes himself as a professional detective. He is adamant upon capturing Fogg. He gives Fogg's assistant a curious drink, which has been apparently supplanted with drugs.

Fogg feels obligated to save this princess from an untimely death. Her name is Princess Aouda, portrayed by Shirley MacLaine. A romance develops and she continues along with the crew, towards their quest to win the wager, despite being pestered by the agents of Mr. Fix.
