Answer: Tommy Lee Jones
Jones, born in 1946 in San Saba, Texas, portrayed Sam Gerard. Sam was a Deputy with the U.S. Marshals and led the team which tracked down Dr. Kimble. He was first seen arriving on the scene of the accident involving the prison bus and a train. He advised his team to check every possible location in the nearby vicinity to look for Dr. Kimble. Throughout the movie, Sam went to places such as a hospital, a jail, a hotel and more to find Dr. Kimble. In one notable scene, Sam was seen chasing Dr. Kimble through a St. Patrick's Day parade held in downtown Chicago. Midway through the film, Sam discovered that Dr. Kimble did not kill his wife. In one scene, Sam was yelling at Dr. Kimble about how he knew he was innocent and then Dr. Nichols tried to shoot Sam, but Dr. Kimble intervened and hit Nichols in the leg with a rod. Dr. Kimble told Sam that Dr. Nichols and Sykes killed his wife and Sam responded that he knew Richard was innocent. This was when he told Richard he was glad the chase was over as he needed some rest. Jones reprised his role of Sam Gerard in the film "U.S. Marshals". Jones was also seen in the films "Blown Away" and "No Country for Old Men". In 1994, he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role of Sam Gerard in "The Fugitive". Other Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actor that year were Ralph Fiennes for "Schindler's List", Leonardo DiCaprio for "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", John Malkovich for "In the Line of Fire" and Pete Postlethwaite for "In the Name of the Father".
