Answer: Although Vinnie is an attorney, he is not licensed in the state and has no trial experience
Shortly after he takes the case, Vinny attends an interview with the judge, Chamberlain Haller, who is presiding over the case. The judge tells Vinny the reason why he is being interviewed, and then he asks Vinny some questions to grant him permission to appear in the court. However, Vinny doesn't have any answer for some of the questions, so he lies to the judge. For example, the judge asks Vinny how long he has been practising as an attorney, and Vinny tells the judge that he has been practicing for a long time and is an experienced attorney. The judge asks him what the verdicts of the cases he has appeared in have been, and Vinny replies that he has won some of the cases and lost some of them. However, Chamberlain Haller is satisfied with his answers, and allows him to appear in the court for the case, but tells Vinny clearly that he expects him to come fully prepared for the case in all respects.
