This character is a songwriter of modest success. He or she is the writer of the "Cruella de Vil" song, which makes millions by the end of the film. Pongo calls this person his pet. Who is this character?
Answer: Roger Radcliffe
Roger Radcliffe is a struggling musician and bachelor when the film begins. He later marries Anita. Roger is a songwriter but has not had that much success until he pens a song about Anita's old schoolmate Cruella de Vil. Anita thinks the song is mean but not untrue. By the end of the film, the song is a huge hit and Roger makes millions off it. He and Anita adopt all of the other Dalmatian puppies after they are rescued, giving them a total of 99 puppies plus Pongo and Perdita.
Roger is voiced by Ben Wright. Bill Lee voiced Roger when he sang.
Roger does not appear in the original Dodie Smith novel. Instead, Pongo's owner is Mr. Dearly. Mr. Dearly is an accountant who once saved the British government financially and was granted the right to never pay taxes again.
