Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Even though she is the main villain, this character might be the most famous from the film. She has her henchmen kidnap the Dalmatian puppies so she can kill them and turn them into a fur coat. Which famous villainess is this?

Answer: Cruella de Vil

Cruella de Vil is a wealthy and spoiled fashion designer who is obsessed with everything fancy and luxurious. She has her henchmen kidnap Roger and Anita's fifteen Dalmatian puppies so she can turn them into a coat with the other puppies she has already kidnapped. Cruella has a number of annoying habits such as splatting everyone with ink from her fountain pen and smoking.

She is also a reckless driver as seen at the end of the film. In the original 1961 film, Cruella is voiced by Betty Lou Gerson.
2. This character is an old friend of Cruella's. He or she is the original owner of Perdita. This person is very kind and refuses to sell the puppies to Cruella. Who is this character?

Answer: Anita Radcliffe

Anita is Roger's wife and a former classmate of Cruella's. Cruella can hardly be said to be a friend of Anita's but the two have remained in touch over the years. Anita is a kind woman and who tries to convince Roger that Cruella is not a bad person and she is less quick to believe Cruella is the dognapper.

Anita does not appear in the original Dodie Smith novel. Instead, Perdita's owner is Mrs. Dearly who acts much like Anita does. She is voiced by Lisa Davis in the film.
3. This Dalmatian is the main character of the film. He wears a red collar and is the father of fifteen Dalmatian puppies. He is "married" to Perdita. Which character is this?

Answer: Pongo

At the beginning of the film, Pongo lives alone with his bachelor owner Roger. While looking out the window, Pongo sees Perdita with her owner Anita and conspires to have Roger fall in love with Anita so he can meet Perdita. The plan is a success. Pongo is the father of the fifteen Dalmatian puppies. When the puppies are dognapped, Pongo and Perdita use the Twilight Barking system of communication between dogs to track them down. By the end of the film, he is the adopted father of the other 84 Dalmatian puppies he rescued.

Pongo is voiced by Rod Taylor.
4. This Dalmatian is the puppy who nearly died soon after birth but made a miraculous recovery. He is a big fan of "The Thunderbolt Adventure Hour" TV program. He can also be a bit rambunctious. Which puppy is this?

Answer: Lucky

Lucky might be the most well known of the Dalmatian puppies, many of whom are not named. He was born a runt and Nanny announced his death soon after he was born. However, he made a recovery and was appropriately named Lucky. Lucky is a very active and rambunctious puppy. He is always running around and having fun. He is the puppy that stands in front of the TV during "The Thunderbolt Adventure Hour" program and blocks everyone else's view.

Lucky is voiced by Mimi Gibson.
5. This character is a songwriter of modest success. He or she is the writer of the "Cruella de Vil" song, which makes millions by the end of the film. Pongo calls this person his pet. Who is this character?

Answer: Roger Radcliffe

Roger Radcliffe is a struggling musician and bachelor when the film begins. He later marries Anita. Roger is a songwriter but has not had that much success until he pens a song about Anita's old schoolmate Cruella de Vil. Anita thinks the song is mean but not untrue. By the end of the film, the song is a huge hit and Roger makes millions off it. He and Anita adopt all of the other Dalmatian puppies after they are rescued, giving them a total of 99 puppies plus Pongo and Perdita.

Roger is voiced by Ben Wright. Bill Lee voiced Roger when he sang.

Roger does not appear in the original Dodie Smith novel. Instead, Pongo's owner is Mr. Dearly. Mr. Dearly is an accountant who once saved the British government financially and was granted the right to never pay taxes again.
6. This Dalmatian wears a blue collar and calls Anita her pet. She is the mother of fifteen Dalmatian puppies, whom she helps rescue at the end of the film. Who is this Dalmatian?

Answer: Perdita

Perdita is Anita's Dalmatian and refers to her human as her pet, much like Pongo does. She gives birth to fifteen puppies who are later dognapped. Perdita and Pongo communicate with the other dogs and animals in the English countryside to locate their puppies (and 84 others) in Cruella's manor. She and Pongo rescue all the puppies in the dead of winter and in a blizzard.

She is voiced by Cate Bauer.

The Disney film version of Perdita is the equivalent of Mrs. Pongo from the Dodie Smith novel. In the novel, Perdita was a totally different character. She was an abandoned Dalmatian whom the Dearlys took in to help nurse the fifteen puppies. Perdita is reunited at the end of the novel with her mate, Prince.
7. This character is one of Cruella's henchmen who steal the puppies. He is the short and fat one. He is much smarter than his brother but his brother is louder and more intimidating. Who is this bad'un?

Answer: Horace

Horace is one of the two crooks who dognap the puppies. His partner is his brother Jasper. Both are bumbling crooks but Horace appears to be smarter than Jasper. However, Horace is clearly afraid of Jasper and lets his brother run all over him. Horace enjoys eating sandwiches. The brothers are frequently scolded by Cruella for their incompetence.

He is voiced by Frederick Worlock.
8. This animal character is a cat who leads the rescue effort to save the puppies from De Vil Place. It is this character who alerts Pongo and Perdita to the location of their puppies. Which feline is this?

Answer: Sergeant Tibs

Sergeant Tibs lives in the countryside with the Colonel, a sheepdog, and Captain, a horse. They discover that the puppies are being kept at De Vil Place and use the Twilight Barking system to alert Pongo and Perdita. While Pongo and Perdita attack Horace and Jasper, Tibs helps the puppies escape the manor and later helps them escape the henchmen for good.

Tibs is voiced by David Frankham.
9. This villain is the taller of the two henchmen who dognap the puppies. Never seen in Disney films nowadays, this character likes to drink beer. His favorite show is "What's My Crime?" Who is this bad'un?

Answer: Jasper

Jasper is the brother of Horace. Jasper is taller and dumber than Horace but is seen as the leader of the duo because he is louder and able to control Horace. He and Horace dognap the 99 puppies Cruella wants for her fur coat and watch them in her manor. Jasper's favorite show is "What's My Crime?" which is a play on the game show "What's My Line" only the panelists have to guess what crime the guest committed.

Jasper is voiced by J. Pat O'Malley.
10. This character is the human guardian of Pongo and Perdita's puppies and delivered the babies. She is attacked by the henchmen who come to dognap the puppies. Though she put up a tough fight, they were able to overcome her. Who is this woman?

Answer: Nanny

Nanny was originally Pongo and Perdita's caretaker and her role in the household was expanded to take care of the puppies. She is also a maid to Roger and Anita. Nanny is attacked by Horace and Jasper after she denied them entry to the house. She, like Roger, hates Cruella and is shown to be both a kind woman but also having a quick temper.

She is voiced by Martha Wentworth. In the Dodie Smith novel, the Dearlys had two nannies: Nanny Cook and Nanny Butler. They merged into one character for the film.
