When Skyler worked for Beneke Fabricators, the owner's son made a pass at her. The son now owns the company, so Marie thinks it is surprising Skyler would go back to work for the company.
Though it is true Skyler is pregnant and Marie expresses doubts that someone would hire a visibly pregnant woman, she is more surprised that Skyler would go to work for this particular company.

Answer: Steal a barrel of an alternate precursor chemical
When they run short on pseudoephedrine, Walter decides they will switch to a different recipe and use methylamine as the main precursor chemical. This necessitates the theft of a barrel of the tightly-controlled chemical, which gives them a much larger production capacity. In addition, the new recipe yields a product that is both more pure, and possesses a distinctly blue color.
Some commentators have pointed out that a brilliant chemist like Walter would have been capable of synthesizing methylamine on his own (all it takes is bubbling ammonia through methanol), but that would be much less dramatic, wouldn't it?
