Answer: 1

Though it debuted as the second highest-rated show on television, stiff competition from 'The Perry Como Show' precipitated its descent to the #19 position, and by the end of the season it was canceled by CBS. Despite that, in the 50 years since its original broadcast, 'The Honeymooners' has had a significant impact on television. It developed a loyal following when released into syndication, and has been broadcast almost continuously since that time, not only domestically, but in countries including Australia, Iran, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Suriname. Both the 1960s cartoon 'The Flintstones' as well as the current situation comedy 'The King of Queens' are based on 'The Honeymooners.'

26 It was almost impossible for Gleason to attract guest stars to appear in 'The {Honeymooners';} the few who did never appeared again. Why?
Answer: Gleason refused to rehearse, even though the show was broadcast live

Gleason felt that rehearsals destroyed the 'spontaneity' possible during the live performance. The most he would agree to do (though not always) was to show up for the 'blocking' (where each character was to stand when delivering his or her lines), but NEVER for a rehearsal. Audrey Meadows and Art Carney would take the terrified guest star to their dressing room and have their own rehearsal, and impart these words of wisdom '...just keep out of his way and never, ever, stand in front of him.'

29 There was a famous tag line which ended many an episode. What was it?
Answer: Ralph saying "Baby, you're the greatest!"

As Gleason said this, he would turn Audrey Meadows in a dramatic gesture, embrace and give her an assumed kiss on the lips which was always obscured by his back and shoulder, just as the cameras would fade to black. Ironically, due to the fervor of the moment and of being on live TV, as well as Gleason's poor aim, the kiss rarely landed where it was supposed to. In the episode 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' (originally aired on December 24, 1955), in a rare occurrence, the cameras continued to roll after the kiss, at which time Gleason turned to face the audience once again, noticeably wiping his mouth several times with his hand! This occurrence, in which the 'Kramdens' and 'Nortons' break character to wish the home and studio audiences a Merry Christmas, is sometimes included when broadcast on Christmas Eve, and appears in the DVD version of the episode.
Your options: [ Ralph saying "Baby, you're the greatest!" ] [ Alice saying "That's another fine mess you've gotten us into." ] [ Ralph saying "I've got a biiiig mouuuth!" ] [ Ralph saying "Bang, zoom! To the moon!" ]

Answer: He would rub his stomach

This is where Audrey Meadow's nickname 'The Rock' came about. A firm believer in rehearsals, it took Meadows quite a while to get used to Gleason's no-rehearsal policy.
