1. I give you a word and a different meaning to start with; your challenge is to change just one letter in the word for another, in the same place, and so to transform the word to another which has the given meaning. The clue will always be given in the same tense, plurality, and word type as the answer: if the clue is past tense, the answer will be past tense; if the clue is singular, the answer will be singular; if the clue is a verb, the answer will be a verb.
Example: Change 'annuls' to a word meaning 'yearly historical records'. The answer would be 'annals'.
