Amy Irving played the role of Sue Snell in Brian DePalma's 'Carrie'. The film was about a social outcast who innocently was the center of a prank. The bad girl Chris and her boyfriend Billy played the prank on her. Pig blood was dropped on her when she was crowned prom queen in a rigged vote.

Priscilla Pointer appeared in the following projects with Amy - 'Carrie' (1976), 'Honeysuckle Rose' (1980) and 'The Competition' (1980). Priscilla was going to play Amy's mother in 'The Fury' (1978) (as in 'Carrie') but Brian DePalma turned the idea down after trying to keep 'The Fury' from being too similar to 'Carrie' (1976).

Amy auditioned in the joint auditions for 'Star Wars' and 'Carrie' in December 1975. In a documentary it was revealed she was a runner up for the role of Stephanie in the mega hit 'Saturday Night Fever' (She would have been great in that role!) and in a 1977 interview she revealed she tried hard to get the role of Pam in the flop 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand', but lost out to 'Carrie' co-star Nancy Allen!

In 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' (2001), her daughter came into the station claiming her father raped her as a child and may be doing the same thing to her younger sister. Amy played the mother who at first thought the claim was a cry for attention but soon discovered it might be true! This was a very good episode.

She did win - unfortunately. Her movie 'Honeysuckle Rose' (1980) got canned at the awards show with a nickname: 'Honey Suck My Nose!' Her other competitors were Elizabeth Ashley for 'Windows', George Sanford Brown for 'Stir Crazy', Betsy Palmer for 'Friday The 13th' and Marilyn Sokol for 'Can't Stop The Music'.
