Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As "Smackdown!" began on December 4, 2003, which "Beast Incarnate" came down to the ring?

Answer: Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar came to the ring and fans kept chanting "You tapped out." Brock said that was okay because before the night was over, he would make someone tap out. The fans were reacting to the fact that, unusually, Lesnar had tapped out to Chris Benoit at the "Survivor Series" 2003 Pay Per View. Even though the referee didn't see it and Lesnar eventually retained the title, the crowd decided to remind Lesnar that he submitted.
2. On the December 4, 2003 episode of "Smackdown!" Paul Heyman asked Dawn Marie to inform which of these superstars of their ongoing suspension?

Answer: Hardcore Holly

Dawn Marie is seen trying to seduce Paul Heyman into giving her some power. In response, Heyman tells Marie to take a memo to Hardcore Holly indicating that his suspension was still in effect. Heyman was appointed General Manager of "Smackdown!" on October 23, 2003 and stayed in the job until March 22, 2004.
3. Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty faced the Basham Brothers in a non-title match on the December 4, 2003 episode of "Smackdown!" What are the names of the two Bashams?

Answer: Danny and Doug

In a match that wasn't too exciting, the team of Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty defeated the reigning tag team champions, Danny and Doug Basham. Rikishi managed to come back from a low blow and delivered his "Samoan Drop" to win the match.
4. After a segment with Paul Heyman, who did Shannon Moore have to face on the December 4, 2003 episode of "Smackdown!"?

Answer: Big Show

Paul Heyman was in the ring with Nathan Jones and Matt Morgan. Then, he called Shannon Moore and told him that he was giving him an opportunity because "he just keeps coming back for more." Paul ended the segment by telling him that he would face the Big Show.

The actual match was very short. Shannon had no chance against the Big Show, and Show gave him a "Chokeslam" for the win.
5. Against which Japanese wrestler did Jamie Noble have a match on December 4, 2003's "Smackdown!"?

Answer: Sakoda

Nidia wanted to be at ringside but Jamie Noble was reluctant to allow her to be there. Noble eventually brought her out to the ring with him. Toward the end of the match, Jamie threw Nidia into the ring. This distracted both the referee and Sakoda, after which Noble rolled him up for the win. Noble told Nidia that it was Tajiri's fault that she was shoved into Sakoda, when really it was Noble who did it.
6. Who did Chris Benoit defeat on the December 4, 2003 episode of "Smackdown!" to become the number one contender for the WWE Championship?

Answer: John Cena

Chris Benoit and John Cena had a great match. The winner would face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship later in the show. At one point, Cena gave Benoit his finisher and covered him. Referee Nick Patrick counted to three but saw Chris' foot on the rope and ordered the match to continue. Toward the end of the match, Big Show came to the ring and distracted Cena.

This allowed Benoit to lock in the "Crippler Crossface" and Cena tapped out. For the first time since May 31, 2001, when he faced Stone Cold Steve Austin, Benoit would wrestle for the WWE Championship on "Smackdown!"
7. The next match in December 4, 2003's "Smackdown! was Chavo Guerrero v. Shelton Benjamin. Which of these two superstars won?

Answer: Chavo Guerrero

Chavo Guerrero came to the ring with his uncle, Eddie Guerrero. Shelton Benjamin, who was joined at ringside by Charlie Haas, then attacked Chavo and gained the upper hand for the match. While the referee was distracted, Eddie "frogsplashed" Benjamin, which allowed Chavo to make the pin and win the match.
8. Who did A-Train choose to support when he placed a wager for the winner of the upcoming WWE Championship match?

Answer: Chris Benoit

Several superstars were backstage taking wagers on who was going to win the match between Brock Lesnar and Chris Benoit. The F.B.I. (Full Blooded Italians) were the ones taking the bets. A-Train put down $10,000 and picked Chris Benoit to win the match. That may have seemed ironic since Chris Benoit and A-Train had an intense feud before, though it could also have been a set-up for a new rivalry.
9. Did the referee get knocked out during the December 4, 2003 "Smackdown!" main event title match between Brock Lesnar and Chris Benoit?

Answer: Yes

This was the first time Brock Lesnar had to defend his title on "Smackdown!" since defeating Kurt Angle in a 60-Minute Ironman Match to win the title back in September. Lesnar and Benoit gave a great match, one that included the referee getting knocked out after Chris Benoit's legs accidentally struck him.

Then, Benoit put Lesnar in the "Crippler Crossface" and Brock tapped out, just like in "Survivor Series." Had the referee been able to see this, Benoit would have become the new champion right there and then.
10. Who was the winner of the main event WWE Championship match?

Answer: Brock Lesnar

After Benoit's failed "Crippler Crossface", Lesnar responded with an "F-5", but incredibly, it wasn't enough to neat Benoit. When the referee wasn't looking, Brock got a chair and hit Chris in the knee with it. He then grabbed his leg and wrapped it around his head in what looked like an extremely painful submission hold. By this time the referee had recovered. Benoit refused to tap out but eventually passed out from the pain, and the referee awarded the match to Lesnar.
