The "Barbapapa" books were written in French, originally, and became translated into over thirty languages. The couple met at a café in Paris.

Their relationship began with creative writing and this is how "Barbapapa" started. Soon after the creation of "Barbapapa" they were married and still live in Paris today. The made-up word "Barbapapa" evolved from the French word for cotton-candy.
