Answer: His eyes were scratched by a rabbit with dirty claws

While out hunting with Cloudtail, Brackenfur and Rainpaw, Longtail caught a rabbit which turned on him and scratched his eyes. Cinderpelt did her best and treated him with marigold but even her great skills could not save his sight.

2. Which two cats attacked Smudge when he was trying to talk to Firestar?

Answer: Brambleclaw and Ashfur

Firestar was hunting with Cloudtail and Thornclaw when he heard the sound of fighting cats. He found Brambleclaw and Ashfur attacking a kittypet (who turned out to be Smudge, Firestar's old friend). It turned out the two young warriors were on border patrol with Mousefur and Dustpelt. Smudge had come to talk to Firestar about some weird dreams he'd been having.

3. Who took over as Sootpaw's mentor when Longtail was hurt?

Answer: Thornclaw

Longtail was Sootpaw's mentor, but after he turned blind he could no longer be a mentor. Firestar asked Thornclaw to finish Sootpaw's training. Cloudtail and Sandstorm were training Sootpaw's two siblings, Rainpaw and Sorrelpaw. Ashfur had no apprentice.

Firestar was on patrol with Thornclaw, Ashfur, Willowpelt and Sootpaw when the badger attacked them. It would have killed Sootpaw if Willowpelt hadn't sacrificed herself for her son.

Cherry and Boris (later Cherrytail and Sparrowpelt) taunted the old cat they first knew as Moony. They called him this because every full moon he went to the gorge and told the other cats of the 'cats in the stars'.

Rainfur was a rouge who had a mate called Petal and two kits called Mint and Sage. Firestar and some other SkyClan warriors had to rescue Petal and the two kits before they all died. They later became SkyClan members; Rainfur, Petalnose, Mintkit and Sagekit.

10. What did Sandstorm use to treat Patchfoot with?

Answer: cobwebs and marigold

When Patchfoot was hurt by the rats, Sandstorm treated him with herbs she had learned of from the ThunderClan medicine cat, Cinderpelt. She sent Sparrowpaw to fetch more cobwebs to stop the bleeding, and Rainfur went to get marigold from Petal's old twoleg garden.

Spottedleaf appeared to Sandstorm and Firestar when they needed help with Patchfoot's injuries. She gave them some burdock root, but most importantly she reassured Sandstorm that she would always come first to Firestar above herself.

Echosong became medicine cat while Leafdapple became leader. Oscar refused to join SkyClan and so never had a warrior name. Shortwhisker eventually went back to his twolegs.
