1. Cinderella
"Cinderella" is the story of a kind and gentle young girl whose dad passes away and leaves her with a wicked stepmother and two mean stepsisters who make her do all the work.
One day a magical fairy godmother appears and changes her ragged clothes into a beautiful ball gown and Cinderella gets to go to the Royal Ball. She meets a handsome prince who falls in love with her but Cinderella forgets the time and the spell wears off at midnight so she has to run away.
In her hurry she loses one of her beautiful glass slippers and the prince searches the whole kingdom to see who it fits until he finds Cinderella again and they get married and live happily ever after.
2. Goldilocks and the Three Bears
"Goldilocks and the Three Bears" is a fairy tale about a curious young girl named Goldilocks. One day, while exploring the woods, she stumbles upon a cosy cottage belonging to three bears: Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear.
Goldilocks is curious, so she goes in and finds three bowls of porridge on the table. She tries the porridge from each bowl but finds one too hot, another too cold and the last one just right.
Then she does the same to the chairs and the bed and then falls asleep in the bed where the bears find her when they come home. Goldilocks jumps up scared, and runs all the way home. Let's hope she learned a lesson about going into places without being asked and using their things!
3. The Little Mermaid
The 1989 Disney movie "The Little Mermaid" tells the enchanting story of Ariel, a mermaid princess who is fascinated with the human world. One day she saves Prince Eric, a handsome human prince, from a shipwreck and falls in love with him. Her father, King Triton, won't let her interact with humans so she goes to the sea witch Ursula and swaps her voice for legs.
She makes it onto land and learns how to use her legs but Eric only knows her from her singing which she can no longer do. Despite this and other problems caused by Ursula she manages to have her legs, voice and Eric.
4. Sleeping Beauty
"Sleeping Beauty" is a story that begins with the joyful birth of Princess Aurora. To celebrate the occasion, the king and queen invite fairies to bestow gifts upon her but an evil fairy named Maleficent, angry for not being invited, curses Aurora to die on her sixteenth birthday by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel.
Luckily a good fairy modifies the curse so that Aurora will only fall into a deep sleep instead of dying. The king gets rid of all the spinning wheels in the country but Maleficent makes sure Aurora finds one on her birthday and the curse is fulfilled.
Aurora sleeps for over a hundred years until a prince finds her in the castle and wakes her with a kiss, proving that love and goodness can win over a curse.
5. Rapunzel
"Rapunzel" is the tale of a young girl who is locked away in a high tower because of something her parents did wrong. She has no friends and the only person she sees is the Enchantress who keeps her there, who climbs up Rapunzel's very long hair.
One day a prince hears her singing and learns the secret of her hair and begins to visit her and the two fall in love. They plan to run away together but the Enchantress finds out, blinds the prince and casts Rapunzel into the wilderness.
Of course he finds her and her tears make him able to see again.
6. Beauty and the Beast
Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" is a different fairy tale from the original stories written a long time ago. Their version revolves around a kind and intelligent young woman named Belle. She finds herself trapped in an enchanted castle, held captive by the Beast as punishment for her father's trespassing.
Despite the Beast's scary looks, Belle discovers that he is cursed and his only hope for breaking the spell is to learn to love and be loved in return and he has to do it before the last petal on the rose falls.
Over time Belle learns to see beyond his looks to the kind good man inside and falls in love with him just in time to break the curse and he turns back into the handsome young prince that he always was inside.
7. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is a fairy tale about a lovely princess named Snow White who was so beautiful it made the queen very jealous, so she orders her to be killed.
The huntsman lets her run away instead, and she goes into the forest and finds the cottage belonging to the seven dwarfs who let her stay with them. But then the queen finds out she is still alive and gives her a poisoned apple and Snow White falls into a deep sleep.
Only the power of a true love can wake her up, so she is very lucky that a handsome prince finds her and kisses her awake.
8. Little Red Riding Hood
"Little Red Riding Hood" is a tale that follows the journey of a young girl who wears a red hooded cloak and is walking through the woods one day with a basket of goodies for her grandmother.
Despite her mother telling her to keep to the path and not to talk to strangers she leaves the path to pick some flowers and meets a cunning wolf who tricks her into telling him where she is going.
He races ahead of her, eats the grandmother and disguises himself in her bed. When Little Red Riding Hood arrives she is deceived by the wolf's appearance; he then reveals his true identity and swallows her, too.
The story sometimes has a happier ending with a woodsman killing the wolf and rescuing them from his belly.
9. Aladdin
"Aladdin" is a magical adventure tale that follows the story of a young street urchin named Aladdin. Living in the bustling city of Agrabah, Aladdin comes into possession of a magical lamp that houses a powerful genie. When he rubs the lamp the genie appears and offers Aladdin three wishes.
Aladdin transforms himself into a prince to win the heart of Princess Jasmine, and the two fall in love but the evil royal attendant Jafar wants to use the genie's powers for his own gain.
Aladdin must figure out a way to thwart Jafar, save his people and stay with Jasmine. The only way he can do it all is to admit who he really is and that is what he does and still gets a happy ending.
10. Jack and the Beanstalk
"Jack and the Beanstalk" is an adventure that revolves around a young, poor boy named Jack. In a desperate attempt to help with money for his family Jack trades their only cow for a handful of magic beans.
Jack plants the beans and overnight a huge beanstalk grows high into the sky. Jack climbs the towering plant and discovers a giant's castle in the clouds. Inside he finds a harp that plays beautiful music on its own and a magical goose that lays golden eggs and he decides to steal them both.
Jack manages to outwit the giant, keeping the treasures and escaping down the beanstalk. In a daring twist, Jack cuts down the beanstalk, sending the giant plummeting to his death.
Jack and his mother live happily ever after now they have enough money from the golden eggs.
