Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Appearing in all of the earliest episodes of the "Pokémon" anime series (which began in 1997), the 'PokéRap' was a catchy five-part song designed to be chopped into smaller chunks and added to the end of every program. Since "Pokémon" was to air every weekday, the intent was to have the rap air in order, Monday-to-Friday, to give viewers all one hundred and fifty.

The version of the song here was the earliest, incorporating all Pokémon found in the "Red", "Blue", and "Yellow" games (excluding the rarest Pokémon, Mew) and as such it lasted through one hundred and eighteen episodes of the show-- the first two seasons-- as Ash Ketchum and co. proceeded to the Indigo Plateau and beyond to the made-for-the-anime Orange Islands. Following this, the show proceeded from Kanto to Johto, starting in on the trail carved by "Pokémon Gold and Silver", and with that came a new rap with the hundred new Pokémon introduced in this generation.

A third 'PokéRap' appeared with the next generation as well, encompassing the one hundred thirty-five Pokémon native to the Hoenn region in "Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire". All said and done, versions of the 'PokéRap' would appear in eight seasons of the anime-- more than four hundred episodes.

All three of these 'PokéRap' songs were in English, made for North American audiences, and the rhymes applied to those translated names. The original Japanese episodes, at least the ones in the first season, featured a segment called 'Professor Oak's Pokémon Lecture' to close out the show instead, and these wouldn't feature a song, but a haiku about a Pokémon randomly pulled from Oak's lab findings.
