Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What color is the Big Comfy Couch?

Answer: Green

A fixture on the show (considering it's in the name), the Big Comfy Couch itself is green with a floral pattern all over. The show follows a clown, Loonette, and her doll, Molly, as they live, sleep, and learn on the massive piece of furniture, occasionally leaving the house for a little bit to meet up with neighbours, friends, and relatives. Across one hundred episodes, the couch stays virtually the same.
2. Loonette will, in every episode, perform a stretch on her carpet. Her carpet is shaped like which of these?

Answer: Clock

In support of good physical activity, Loonette will typically wake up and lead into a Clock Rug Stretch, performing a routine repeated in each episode in which she uses the numbers of a clock as a guide to flex and tumble. Depending on the theme of the episode, this segment has been sped up, slowed down, done backwards, or even done by Molly.
3. How do Loonette and Molly turn on their light when they want to read a book?

Answer: They clap their hands

Every episode of the show generally involves a moment of story time in which Loonette and Molly grab their reading glasses, grab a blanket, and break the spine on a book relevant to their daily lesson. Part of this process involves turning on a massive standing light next to the couch, and since it's so tall, the pair clap their hands to turn it on and off. Once again, it's all about ensuring healthy habits are formed; reading in the dark is bad for your eyes.
4. What does Molly say lives under the couch?

Answer: Dust bunnies

In this oft-repeated segment of the show, the focus shifts away from Loonette and Molly to follow the dust bunnies that accumulate beneath the massive piece of furniture. The catch is that Loonette has never seen these creatures and, thus, doesn't believe Molly when she says that they exist. In some instances, Molly tries to bait the dust bunnies out, but to no avail.
5. Some segments of the show involve a family living in Loonette's dollhouse. The Foley Family has how many members?

Answer: Three

Appearing throughout many of the earlier episodes of the show, the Foley Family might as well have been Loonette's dolls, but they appeared as full-grown clowns to the viewer. Interacting in different rooms of the dollhouse, they would act without talking, almost as though comical performers in a silent film.

The three characters-- a mother, father, and son-- were never explicitly named on the show, but they were Jim, Eileen, and Andy, respectively.
6. Loonette's neighbour, Granny, has which last name?

Answer: Garbanzo

In every episode, Loonette will bring Molly out of the house to check the mail and, in doing so, run into her neighbour Granny Garbanzo as she's performing tasks in and around her wagon (which is much bigger on the inside!). In addition to being Loonette's neighbour, Granny is also Loonette's actual grandmother. Why she speaks with a Russian accent isn't fully explained, though it likely has to do with her coming from the Old Country, whatever that means for clowns.
7. Major Bedhead has which job?

Answer: Mailman

In addition to running into Granny Garbanzo nearly every episode, Loonette and Molly will also receive a well-timed visit from Major Bedhead when they head outside their home as he'll be on his mail route delivering packages around the same time. Coming in on his unicycle, he will generally *always* have a package for Loonette, leading into a typical segment in which they read the contents as a group.
8. What is the name of Loonette's Auntie, who sends her letters and packages on the regular?

Answer: Macassar

Auntie Macassar (as in 'antimacassar'), is Loonette's actual aunt and in later episodes is shown to be married to Uncle Henry. When Major Bedhead arrives at the house, it's usually with mail from Auntie Macassar in the form of a letter or a package containing something impossibly oversized from far, far away.

She's famous for making grand entrances when she does show up in the yard, which does happen from time to time.
9. Granny's cat goes by what name?

Answer: Snicklefritz

Appearing throughout the show, Snicklefritz is a clown cat (as can be seen by his characteristic red nose). An orange tabby puppet, Snicklefritz appears to have a playful rivalry with Major Bedhead and a chummy friendship with Molly when the pair are seen together. Naturally, as a cat, Snicklefritz gets into mischief and only really appears when Loonette and Molly head out to the yard.
10. How long do Loonette and Molly give themselves to tidy up their mess at the end of every episode?

Answer: Ten seconds

"Who made this big MESS?!"

At the end of every episode, with as much that happens, Loonette and Molly end off their day by cleaning up after themselves, stowing away everything that they pulled out of the Big Comfy Couch, but they do so in what they refer to as the 'Ten Second Tidy'. This is done sped-up, and occasionally by Molly alone when Loonette had nothing to do with the mess, before they go to sleep.
