Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the cook who works at Willow Farm?

Answer: Harriet

Harriet is a very happy and smiling person. She loves the children, and makes very nice meals and treats. Her niece, Fanny, helps her in the kitchen. Harriet lives in the house with the family. She also worked for the previous owners.
2. Which child is given the responsibility to look after the chickens and ducks with Fanny?

Answer: Sheila

Sheila and Penny beg 'daddy' to be allowed to look after the birds. 'Daddy' says that in order to look after the animals properly, they have to read two huge text books. Penny soon discovers that the books are too hard for her, and then she doesn't want to look after the birds any more.

Sheila doesn't like the textbooks much either, but Fanny comes to her rescue, and tells Sheila everything she needs to know about looking after the chickens and ducks. Then, when 'daddy' tests Sheila on her knowledge, he is very surprised at what she knows.

As a thank-you, Sheila asks Fanny to help her look after the birds. The two keep a record of every egg the chickens and ducks lay, and are immensely proud of the work they are doing.
3. What is the name of the lamb that Davey, the shepherd, gives Penny?

Answer: Skipperty

When Penny went to see Davey one day, she saw a little lamb, hanging around the trees on its own. When she talked to Davey about it, he told her the lamb was a runt, and was disliked. Penny's heart 'melted' when she heard him bleat, so she asked Davey if she could have the lamb. With the permission of 'daddy', Penny took the lamb, calling him Skipperty because of the way he always bounced, and he lived a wonderful life in the farm orchard. Penny tamed him, and Skipperty always followed her around, so much in fact that 'mummy' began to get annoyed with it.

But soon the whole farm was used to it. When he got older, he went back and joined the flock.
4. When the family first came to Willow Farm, Benjy found a secret panel in the wall. What was behind the panel?

Answer: The electricity board

Benjy had just finished a book on a secret room that was behind a panel. So he was very excited when he saw the panel, and he leapt forward to open it. He was very disappointed to find that it was only the electricity board. The whole family laughed at Benjy's mistake; even Benjy admitted it had been very funny.
5. What is the name of the place where the haystacks are made and stored?

Answer: The rick yard

The children have lots of fun during the harvesting of the hay, and spend lots of time playing in it, and helping cart it to and from the rick yard. The farm's symbol, a crown, is woven on the top of each haystack.
6. Who had been looking after Scamper, while Benjy was at school?

Answer: Tammylan

When the children went to see Tammylan on the second day at Willow Farm, Scamper rushed out to Benjy, and was very happy to see him again. Tammylan said he had enjoyed looking after Scamper. However, Scamper had grown up a lot since Benjy had seen him last, and now he spent more time with other squirrels in the forest. Benjy was sad to see Scamper disappear all the time, but soon Benjy developed a whistle to which Scamper answered to.
7. What type of cows that are at Willow Farm?

Answer: Red and white

The children are very pleased to have cows at the farm which they can milk. Benjy dreams about the life of a cow, simply eating and digesting grass and getting milked. The children have lots of fun milking the cows, separating the milk and cream, and churning the milk to make the butter.
8. The fruit the farm mainly produces is apples.

Answer: True

The children have a wonderful time, gathering up all the apples from the orchard. 'Daddy' is very happy with the harvest, for there had been very few damaged apples. The children stored the apples well in the barn, and they kept well for ages to come. For tea that night, 'mummy' made apple pie!
9. Where do the children go to complete their schooling?

Answer: The vicarage

'Mummy' and 'daddy' insist that the children continue their schooling, and as the family live in the country, the only way to school the children was to send them to the vicarage to be taught by the vicar. The children complain bitterly about having to go to school, and miss out on the action at the farm. However, 'daddy' keeps the children home in the harvest time.
10. Lastly, what is 'daddy's' Christmas present to the children?

Answer: Four donkeys

Because the children had complained to Tammylan about he time that was wasted walking to and from lessons, 'daddy' decided to buy four donkeys which would take them to and from lessons much quicker. The children were very thrilled to receive the gifts. Penny called her donkey Hee Haw!
