Carols are songs sung around Christmas time with a religious theme. One of the most famous and loved carols is "Silent Night". It was written in the 1810s in Austria.

In many countries, particularly the UK and Commonwealth countries, Christmas dinner starts with a Christmas cracker. The cracker (also called a bon-bon) usually contains a paper hat, a small toy and a joke. You turn to the person sitting next to you, grab an end and pull. The cracker snaps apart with a bang and the person who has the bigger end wins the prizes.

To say thank you for playing my quiz I'll share a Christmas cracker joke with each question. Be warned, Christmas cracker jokes are known for being fairly "average"... if you know what I mean. Here's the first one!

It is given to the United Kingdom as a thank you present for their assistance in World War II. You can find it in Trafalgar Square.

Christmas is a time when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Many countries celebrate Christmas on December 25th with a family meal taking place in addition to other festivities. Some European countries celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve while others celebrate earlier in December or even in early January depending on local customs and tradition.
