Answer: Vole

Continuing from where the first book left off, Graystripe and Millie are getting nearer to ThunderClan's forest home. However, they still have quite a long way to go. The day after Millie catches her first vole, Graystripe realizes that he finally knows the way home, which should make their journey much easier.

Answer: Corn

After Graystripe narrowly saves Millie from being hit by a monster, they fall over the edge of a Thunderpath and into a field of corn. Almost immediately, a combine comes roaring out of the corn, bearing down on them. Graystripe and Millie get lost in the confusion, taking different routes down a fork in their path.

Answer: Husker

After being separated from Millie, Graystripe runs to a nearby barn and pleads with the cats inside to help him find her. At first, Husker refuses, being protective of his mate and kits and saying that it is too dangerous to go into the corn during the daytime, but he eventually relents.

He, Splash, and Graystripe all go out to search for her after Husker warns Graystripe to beware of the corn monster.

Answer: Her eyes

After the trio of cats finds Millie, she tells Graystripe that the leaves of the corn cut her eyes while she was running through them. Once they all make it back to the barn, Graystripe dabs water-soaked moss over her eyes, soothing them greatly.

Answer: Moss

Birdy, Pad, and Raindrop, along with Little Mew, are the four kits living in the barn. Their father is Husker, their mother is Moss, and their uncle is Splash. They originally belonged to two elderly Twolegs living in a nearby nest until both Twolegs died. New Twolegs moved into the nest, bringing two dogs with them, so Husker, Moss, and Splash (the kits were not born yet) were forced to move into the barn.

Answer: She told them to go away

When Graystripe tries to hunt for mice in the cornfield, the Twoleg boy lets the dogs out and tells them to "get that mangy cat". Graystripe runs away and hides under a nearby hedge, only to find that the dogs are now chasing Splash. Graystripe leads the dogs away from Splash, but he is soon cornered in a small building. Millie comes to save him, and though he fears she may not fare well, she steps in anyway and tells the dogs to go away.

This actually worked; in Graystripe's words, "I don't think I'd be more surprised if Firestar floated down out of the sky and licked me on the nose."

Answer: Yes

After Millie told the barn cats that she was able to get rid of the dogs by telling them to go away, she offered to teach the other cats to do the same. Soon after they have learned, Splash confronts the two dogs one night when they attempt to enter the barn. Graystripe fears that he may panic and forget everything he has learned, but Splash handles the dogs perfectly, turning them away easily.

Answer: A frog

Being fed up with mice, Graystripe and Millie decide to go outside the barn to hunt a couple of birds. They spy the Twoleg kit walking after a frog towards a pond. After noticing that the bigger Twolegs are not with her, Graystripe realizes that she could easily fall in if she takes a few more steps.

Answer: He meows at her

Graystripe makes small chirping noises until the Twoleg kit turns around. He then acts adorable to draw her away from the edge of the pond. Millie later teases him about this, saying that she can't wait to tell the barn cats, as well as the rest of his Clan, how her "brave, tough warrior saved a little Twoleg...by acting cute," much to his chagrin.

Answer: The Great Sycamore

Shortly after leaving the farm, Graystripe gets a sense that he is somewhere familiar, though he can't place it in his mind. When he sees the Great Sycamore, however, he races to the old ThunderClan camp as quickly as he can. Upon reaching it, he realized that the entire forest has been cut down, and his Clan is gone.
