When he passed away at the age of 110 years, Frank Woodruff Buckles was the last surviving American soldier from WWI. In 1917, he joined the United States Army at the age of 17. He also served in WWII and spent three years as a prisoner of war. Upon his death, President Barack Obama ordered the American flag to be lowered at half-mast and attended his funeral at Arlington National Cemetery.

At the time of his passing, Mr. Buckles was the oldest WWI veteran in the world as well as the last field veteran of the war.

There were two other veterans of the war, both British, still living. Claude Choules and Florence Green both lived to the age of 110 and were the oldest British WWI veterans at the time of their deaths in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Answer: The Colossus of Rhodes

The Colossus of Rhodes was a large statue built on the Greek island of Rhodes around 280 B.C. making it the last of the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World" to be constructed. It stood for approximately 30 years before a large earthquake destroyed it and most of the harbor at which it was built.

The 107 ft.(30m) high statue broke at the knees during the earthquake and was destroyed. This magnificent iron and bronze structured depicted Helios, the Greek god of the Sun.

Captain Eugene Cernan was the commander of Apollo 17, the last of the Apollo missions to go to the moon. He was the last man to climb back into the capsule making him the last human to stand on the moon in the 20th century. The date was Dec. 13, 1972.

"Good-Bye,Farewell and Amen" was the final episode of the war comedy-drama "M*A*S*H" which centered around life in a field surgical hospital during the Korean War. One of the most popular American television shows of the 1970s, this final episode remained the most watched television broadcast in American history until it was surpassed by the 2010 Super Bowl.

"The Misfits", filmed in 1961, was the last film for both Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe. Clark Gable died twelve days after the end of filming and Monroe was dead about a year and a half later. The movie, which centered on a newly divorced woman and her attempts to move on with her life, was not well received and Monroe was very open about the fact that she hated the movie.
