The two Kansas Cities are separated by the Missouri River. The Missouri version is much bigger, and contains most of the area's more popular tourist attractions. Rosedale Memorial Arch is in the Kansas half, and dates from the early 1920s. It is based on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and was built to pay tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in World War 1.

The Kansas State Fair takes place in the city of Hutchinson, Reno County, for ten days each September, beginning on the Friday following Labor Day. It takes place at the State Fairgrounds, with around 350,000 visitors attending each year. The first fair at that site took place in 1913, and the only year since then in which it was it was cancelled was 2020, due to the COVID pandemic.

Barton County is located in the centre of Kansas, with Great Bend as its county seat. It is named after Clara Barton, the founder of the American Red Cross, although she herself had no particular connection to the area.

Pittsburg State University was founded in 1903 in the city of Pittsburg, which is located in Crawford County in south east Kansas. Their sports teams are nicknamed Gorillas, the only NCAA team in America with this name. They play their sports in the Division II Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

The school's football team were Division II national champions in 1957, 1961, 1991 and 2011.

Johnny Kaw is a character created in 1955 by George Filinger, a professor at Kansas State University in Manhattan. He is a symbol of local agriculture, and a 24 foot statue of him holding a scythe can be found in Manhattan City Park.

Mount Sunflower, at 4,039 feet, is the highest point in Kansas. Situated in Wallace County, near the state border with Colorado, it isn't really a mountain at all. It is located on privately owned land, but is open to the public.

Boot Hill Museum is located on the site of the original Boot Hill cemetery, and contains a number of interactive displays. The Kansas Cowboy Hall of Fame and Long Branch Saloon can be found within the museum complex. The OK Corral is located in Tombstone, Arizona.

Answer: The Wizard of Oz

In the film and novel "The (Wonderful) Wizard of Oz", Dorothy Gale comes from Kansas, but no specific town or community was named, so Liberal simply got in first when it came to building an attraction dedicated to the film. "Dorothy's House and Land of Oz" contains a replica of Dorothy's house, as well as a yellow brick road, a museum, and an animated tour of Oz.

Answer: Cosmosphere

The Cosmosphere was established in Hutchinson, originally as a planetarium, in 1962. It contains the largest combined collection of American and Russian space artifacts in the world. The museum is an affiliate of Washington's Smithsonian Institute.
