Liechtenstein (160 sq km) is the sixth-smallest country in the world by size. It is doubly landlocked country sandwiched by Austria (east) and Switzerland (west) in the Alps.

San Marino (61 sq km) is a small mountainous state surrounded by north-central Italy.

Vatican City (0.49 sq km) is a microstate and enclave within Rome. It became independent from Italy in 1927 with the Lateran Treaty.
