Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. My initial letter bank contains IIINTAL. I can play initial. Assuming the N lands on a double letter space and the word is going across (so the A lands on the center star space), how many points do I get?

Answer: 66

Each letter in initial is worth one point. Double the first I and you get 8 points. The first word is always doubled, so now it's worth 16 points. Finally, there's a 50 point bonus for using all of your 7 letters. This makes it worth 66 points.
2. My next group of letters is TTTOOXP. I play tattoo using the A from initial (the A is on the center space and the last O lands on a double letter). How many points does this equal?

Answer: 7

Each letter played is worth one point, and the last o is doubled, making it worth 7 points.
3. Now I have XEEESNP. Thankfully, I can play expense! If I play the S at the end of tattoo, how many points do I get? (The first E lands on a double word score and the N and last E land on double letter scores)

Answer: 93

The X is worth 8 points and the P is worth 3, the other letters are worth. The word is worth 16 points right now. Double an E and the N and it's now worth 18 points. Double the word to get 36 points. The S is added to tattoo for an additional 7 points, making the score 43. Since all the letters were used, 50 points gets added. The score is 93.
4. Time to draw new letters, now I have three of the letter G! Are there any letters in scrabble that have exactly three tiles of that letter?

Answer: Yes

The letter G is the only letter in scrabble that has exactly three.
5. My letter bank has GGGILSE. Am I ever going to get away from triple letters? I'll play giggles. The S in giggles will connect it to initial, thus making "initials". The first G and the L will both land on a triple letter score. How many points do I get now?

Answer: 74

The G is worth 2 points. The first G and the L are tripled, making them worth 6 and 3 respectively. Giggles is now worth 16 points. The S is added to initial, this gives it an additional 8 points. The score is now 24. There is a bonus of 50 points for using all seven letters. This gives a total of 74 points.
6. The next letters I draw are RRRAANE. If I use the first G in giggles I can make arranger. The first R lands on a triple letter. How many points do I get?

Answer: 61

The G is worth 2 points, the other letters are worth 1, and the first R is on a triple letter. This means the word is worth 11 points. All seven letters are used for a 50 point bonus, for a score of 61 points.
7. My letter bank now has AAABNNU. No seven letter words this time, but I can play banana! The B lands on a triple word score, the second A is on a double letter space. The N is above the A in arranger while the last A is above the first R in arranger, this creates na and ar as new words. How many points do I have this time?

Answer: 31

B is worth 3 points and the A on the double letter is worth 2 points. The rest of the letters are worth 1 point. The total right now is 9. The B is on a triple word score making the word worth 27 points. The creation of NA an AR gives an added 4 points. The score is 31 points.
8. There's a challenge on AR and NA! Are these words legal?

Answer: Yes

Per scrabblewordfinder.org these words are playable. Playing words on top or below other words, or adding an S to the end of a word, can be good ways to accumulate extra points.
9. Now, I have UDDDIEY. I can use the B in banana to play buddied. The second D is on a double letter score. How many points is this worth?

Answer: 14

Ds are worth 2 points and the B is worth 3. One of the Ds landed on a double letter space making it worth 4 points. The other letters are each worth 1 point. This makes it 14 points.
10. Right now I have 346 points! I have a Y left in my letter bank, my opponent has no letters left, and I won a challenge earlier. If the game ended now, what would be my score?

Answer: 342

66+7+93+74+61+31+14=346. Then you have to subtract the point value of the Y. 346-4=342. There is no loss or gain of points related to the challenge.
