Beka chases Orva for at least half an hour after, while trying to stop a family feud, Goodwin is hit by Orva in the chin with the hilt of a butcher knife. Fun Note: When Ahuda hears about Beka's chase, Ahuda calls Beka "a stubborn little terrier".

Answer: Ersken

Lorine is her sister, and Nilo and Willes are her brothers. Beka also has another sister named Dione. Ersken is one of her Puppy friends. Fun Note: When Beka visits her family, only Nilo and Willes are friendly with her. At the end of the book only Dione is not there cheering for her when the Shadow Snake gang is brought in.

She is Lady Knight Sabine of Macayhill. In the "Alanna" series both Naxen and Goldenlake are mentioned - this is where Gary (Gareth) and Raoul are from. Haryse is the name of the Lord Provost, Lord Gershom of Haryse. Fun Note: In "Alanna" and "Protecter of the Small", though many new names are mentioned, Macayhill and Haryse are not. Where'd they go?

Lady Sabine is a Lady Knight of Macayhill. Lady Alysy is actually Queen Alysy, first wife of King Roger II. She is now deceased. Lady Jessamine is actually Queen Jessamine, current wife of King Roger II and mother of his heir. Fun Note: Every time a Dog is killed, Lord Gershom takes the time to walk a little with each Dog pair. Every time he does this is a week Lady Teodorie makes him sleep on the couch!

Answer: He becomes the Rogue

Rosto missed helping wrap up the digger case because he was fighting the Rogue. Beka figures out what he's done after she sees the scar on his cheek and realizes why he didn't help. Fun Note: After Beka finally realizes Rosto is the Rogue, Rosto kisses her!

Answer: Slapper

Slapper is the "head pigeon". Throughout the book, he holds one of the dead miner's ghosts until Beka finally puts him to rest. Slapper is also the feistiest and ugliest pigeon of the bunch. Fun Note: Right in the middle of a serious moment between Rosto and Beka, Slapper flies right into Rosto's face!

Answer: Yates and Deirdry Noll

This is sort of a trick question. While Yates did all the heavy lifting, Deirdry got to keep the spoils and also came up with the targets. Fun Note: Deirdry considered Yates to be a better son then both of her successful sons that ran big businesses in other towns. Now how did she come up with that?

Answer: Esseny

If you got this right, you were really paying attention! Esseny the Lily is murdered by an ex-boyfriend whom she just broke up with. Fun Note: When Beka and her Dogs arrive and hear the Rat's story, Goodwin can't keep from retorting.

Answer: She was flirting with the son of the Lord of Olau
