Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
James Allan Francis was born in Nova Scotia in 1864. He began his Baptist Pastorate at the young age of 21 and wrote several books based on his sermons. On July 11, 1926 Francis included this beautiful passage in a sermon which he delivered to the Baptist Young People's Union at a Los Angeles Convention. It was hastily transcribed by a friend. The title of the sermon was "Arise Sir, Knight" and Dr. Francis published it that same year in a collection called "The Real Jesus and Other Sermons".
As one section of the sermon became so popular it was circulated independently as "One Solitary Life". Dr. Francis' words became so widely recited and read (especially at Christmas and Easter time) that they were sometimes erroneously credited as anonymous work.
