Even though the Flock doesn't have any idea when their actual birthdays are, they have a general idea of how old they are. But the Flock wanted birthdays, so they each chose a day they liked and called it their birthday.

Each of the flock members practically grew up in The School, constantly experimented on by the mad scientists that messed with their DNA in the first place. In case you didn't know, Max and her Flock are only 98% human. The other 2% is bird. That's why they have wings and can fly. They also have huge appetites and have super strength and endurance, compared to normal humans anyway.

The Erasers, which are part wolf and part human, are the only other successful experiment. Most other experiments die much sooner. For some reason though, Erasers don't always look like hideous half-wolf beings. They can morph their features back and forth between looking like a normal human and looking like a wolf man.

Max and her Flock all think they are safe, hidden in Colorado, where no one from The School can find them. Imagine their surprise when Erasers drop out of the sky in helicopters, kick the Flock's butts, and kidnap Angel! Apparently The School still wants to do further experiments on them.

Answer: She got shot in the wing

While on her way to rescue Angel, Max uses her raptor vision and sees some teenagers tormenting a younger girl. She goes to save the day and kicks the teenagers' butts, but that just makes them mad, so they shoot her in her shoulder, which is where her wings were folded up and hidden.

She follows the girl, Ella, home and asks her for help. It is actually extremely difficult for a member of the Flock to get lost while flying. They seem to have some kind of built-in, internal compass that none of them can explain. I don't think I can either.

Answer: Chocolate-chip cookies

Max has never had home-made chocolate chip cookies before, and later becomes obsessed with finding chocolate chip cookies as good as the ones she had at Ella's house.

The School is located in Nevada. After escaping, the Flock decides to get as far away as possible.

Answer: She can control minds

Angel uses this new ability to 'persuade' an old lady to buy her an extremely expensive teddy bear. However, later in the book she does discover that she can breathe underwater. Gazzy can mimic voices, and I made up the one about invisibility.

Answer: She gets horrible headaches

For a while, every time Max tries to get airborne, she gets a horrible headache and she has to land.

Max almost makes Angel put him back, but Fang says she can keep it as long as she takes care of it. When she shows up with the dog, Angel says that the tag by his dog crate said his name was Total.
