The first magick she receives is Wit'chfire - when the Rose on her palm is full of sunlight. Later she discovers Coldfire - the Rose full of moonlight. Releasing both of these powers simultaneously results in Stormfire.

Joach, Elena's elder brother, is a dreamweaver who's able to glimpse fragments of future events in the dream plane. Later, in "Wit'ch Star", he discovers that he's not only a dreamweaver but a dreamsculptor, with the ability to create things out of nothing while pouring a little of his own blood into the creature.

Answer: Kral with his axe

Kral, a huge mountain man, kills the Skal'tum with his axe. But his weapon is not effective before Nee'lahn illuminates the dark creature with a reflection of sunlight.
Kral later becomes an Ill'guard. As such he is able to transform into different animals by wrapping their skin or fur around his axe.

Answer: Ragnar'k

Through an age-old oath between the Dre'rendi and the Mer'ai the Bloodrider Kast is linked to the green-haired Mer'ai-woman Sy-wen. Whenever she touches the tattoo on his face, he transforms into the great dragon Ragnar'k.

Er'ril of Standi is a one-armed swordfighter. 500 years before the rest of the story takes place, he was witness as his brother Shorkan, Greshym and a young boy named De'nal forged the Blood Diary. From then on it was his task to preserve the book until he could give it to Sisa'kofa's heir.

Fardale and his twin brother Mogweed are Si'lura - shapechangers. They left their home to find a way to break their curse before they'd be caught irreversibly in their current forms - Fardale as a large, black treewolf, Mogweed as an insignificant brown-haired man.

Answer: Cassa Dar

In "Wit'ch Storm" we get to know Cassa Dar, once a D'warven assassin, now a powerful swamp wit'ch, who lives in this castle hidden deep within the Drowned Lands. With Elena's help she finds the Try'sil - a long lost ancient D'warf-hammer which is an effective weapon against the Dark Lord's forces.

Answer: Leviathan

Sy-wen is one of the Mer'ai. Her adventure starts on one of her secret and forbidden ventures to the shores of the Archipelago, where she and her mother's seadragon Conch get caught by fishermen. One of them is Kast, a Bloodrider who later becomes her companion and lover.

Answer: Og're/Si'lura

Tol'chuk, which in Og're tongue literally means "he-who-walks-like-a-man" is the son of an Og're and Mycelle, who's a Si'lura (a shape-changer). He's also the descendant of the Oathbreaker whose crimes Tol'chuk must retrieve by order of the ancients of his tribe.

Lord Tyrus, also known as Prince Tylamon Royson, heir to the throne of Castle Mryl and head of the Pirate Guild, joined the party in Port Rawl. Together with Mycelle, the shape shifters Fardale and Mogweed and Kral he moved north to free Castle Mryl from the minions of the Black Heart.

Answer: His right hand is mutilated

Greshym, a darkmage, lost his right hand about 500 years ago. In "Witch'Fire" he calls himself Dismarum and is a servant of the Dark Lord. He's searching for the girl who's the descendant of the powerful wit'ch Sisa'kofa - the first ever female mage. Together with the young soldier Rockingham ,Greshym is responsible for the death of Elena's parents.

Answer: Tol'chuks mother

Although Elena calls her "Aunt My", she is not kindred with her. Mycelle is a Si'lura (a shape shifter), who had an affair with Tol'chuks father, an Og're, before she decided to stay in her human form - a female, blonde warrior. In "Wit'ch War" she dies, but could be brought back into life by Mama Freda. From then on she is again able to change her shape.

Answer: Nee'lahn

Nee'lahn is a nyphai, a tree sprite who is the last living of her kind. She carries a lute, made of the wood and containing the heart and spirit of the last Koa'kona-tree of her home Lok'ai'hera. By killing her Vira'ni only destroys Nee'lahn's body, but her spirit is preserved in an acorn and sometimes later in the story Nee'lahn is able to return.

Answer: Moon'falcon

Meric, son of Elv'in Queen Tratal, initially comes to Alasea because he is searching for the missing descendant of their Elv'in king. The Moon'falcon shows him the way to Elena. As Meric spots the red Rose of magick on her hand, he attempts an attack on her, because he thinks she's an evil wit'ch.

The falcon, which knows that Elena also is the sought-after descendant, obstructs his sword, and Meric accidentally kills his own bird.

Answer: Flint and Moris

500 years ago, the Hi'fai foretold the forging of the Blood Diary. Flint and Moris are current members of the Brotherhood, whose task it is to protect A'loa Glen and its remaining magick from the Black Heart. But the order is already infiltrated by Greshym (who once was a member, but dismissed the sect long ago) and by Shorkan, who actually is Praetor - head of the order.
