Christopher had a rat that he called Toby. Toby died when he was two years old. Christopher's dad got him a dog that Christopher named Sandy.

This is a tricky question. The police didn't arrest Christopher for killing the dog, but for assaulting a police officer. Christopher was put into a cell and thought about ways he could escape. One of the ways he thought about was setting his clothing on fire and waiting for them to open the door.

With Christopher investigating the death of Mrs. Shears poodle, Christopher's dad finally came out and told Christopher that he killed Wellington because he was angry with Mrs. Shears for loving the dog more than them. After finding out what his father did to Wellington, Christopher was afraid his dad would kill him as well so he ran away to London and even told a policeman what his father did. Christopher, eventually, returned home so he could take his math tests that he had been studying for, but at the end of the book he still hadn't moved back in with his father.
